Carbonmonoxide / Gas Monitors

We have a Mobile Suite and the monitors sound off sometime when we first arrive at our camping spot, then cease after about 30 minutes. We have had the 5th wheel about three years, do they need to be replaced or is there a possible leak? Could the fumes get trapped during travel - while refrigerator is hooked up? Please - need your advise. THANKS for any assistance you can offer.

RE: Dumbest thing you've ever done while RVing with your Rig?

As a newbie on our first trip out with the 5'ver, (1) DH moved the van over to hook up to trailer and left the van running in the drive way with the keys in it for over 24 hours. Had wonderful neighbors give us a call wondering what the heck was going on. (2) Forgot to remove the iron chock he had in front of the tire before leaving and it left a 10ft skid mark in the driveway for about 8 months. So never get too excited about leaving on first trip out! When getting ready to leave campground he was cleaning out the black water, water began spraying inside the trailer, factory left something unconnected. HA! We had a wonderful first trip and will always look back and laugh, the neighbors will not let him forget it!

RE: Why can't all clothes be sized right?

I had the same problem buying my husband jeans. My experience with Levis is it depends on what country they were manufactured in. The relaxed jeans made in Mexico all fit the same, however, the same size of jean made in Indonesia, China, etc. will not fit. This is just my observation when purchasing them. So check the inside tag and see if this helps.

RE: Onan in a 5er

We ordered our 5er generator ready. Later husbandinstalled the Onan generator. Be sure if you install yourself, to have the exhaust pipe far enough away from the 5er. The carbonoxide alarm is very very sensitive. It will drive you crazy if the exhaust pipe is not positioned far enough away! Also we opted for a gas Onan, because gas is easier to find than propane. The diesel Onan is quite a bit heavier.

RE: Doubletree Select Suites

We own a 36CK1 Mobile Suite and pull with a GMC 1 ton dually allison engine. Most have mentioned the pin weight. Well, heres an incident that may be of help to you - someone pulled in front of us one time then slammed on their breaks nearly causing a major crash. We were so glad we made the choice for a larger truck with better ability to stop quicker. That size of trailer needs a bigger truck to assist in stopping. We made the mistake and purchased the wrong truck the first time (a Ford 250) and sure glad we up graded. We might not be RVing today if we had not changed tow vehicles.
Just my two cents worth. And we Love our Mobile Suite glad we decided on this one.

View Cube Satellite Reception

We're looking for a satellite for our 5th wheel. The ones mounted on top of 5er may be too tall to park under our rv cover. Is anyone familier with the View Cube sold at Camper World? Does it automatically find the signal or does signal need to be located like the standard portable satellite on a tripod. Thanks for your response.

RE: Need Contractors Advice - 5th Wheel Cover

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
I believe the elastomeric paint is what I am searching for. It is a solid wall and I want it to have a rough finish. I will do my research. Thanks so much!

Need Contractors Advice - 5th Wheel Cover

We built a cover for our 5th wheel and it is constructed by 4x4 square tubing and we covered the back yard side with Durock (concrete board). We also purchased caulking that expands and contracts with the hot and cold weather to fill in the cracks of the mounted Durock) Now I want to texture the Durock board with an outdoor spray on siding that will not crack. I just need to know the name of some kind of material we need to finish the wall. Preferably we would like to spray this on with a high pressure sprayer. Or any other suggestions you may have. I know this can be done, I haven't found any one that knows how to do something like this.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

RE: Fifth Wheel for full timing????

I second the Mobile Suites, we did our research and found they have more fresh, black and gray water storege, large basement, double payne windows, king size bed, 3 1/4 inch walls, extra insulation, shut off switch for the battery, etc. Many features that most models do not have, these have come in handy, we did not realize what good extras it has, until we RVed with others who do not have them. Sure it is more costly, but well worth it if you full time. Ours is an 2005 and now other models may have added to their units. Yes, they cost more, but you get what you pay for, just depends on what your needs and wants are. I know they will work with you on the sticker price, so if you find one, make them deal with you or better yet, try to find a used one. We have had good luck with ours. The Elite Suites have granite countertops, and only adds to the weight. The Select Suites are a step below the Mobile Suites, this may interest you. Good Luck!

RE: Help us choose a built-in generator for a new fifth wheel

We recently purchased a gas Onan Gold 5500, they said it is capable of running two air conditioners. We chose the gas due to the fact the diesel generator was several pounds heavier and we did not want the weight. We also chose the gasoline due to the fact we can get gasoline just about anywhere we need it, opposed to propane. As far as the noise issue, I think it is very quite and have no complaints. Hope this helps.
